Frequently asked questions

What is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It is a screening tool for weight categories, not a direct measure of body fat.

What BMI is considered normal?

WHO classifies 18.5–24.9 as normal weight for adults. Under 18.5 is underweight; 25–29.9 is overweight; 30 and above is obesity.

Is BMI accurate for athletes?

Muscular adults may have a high BMI despite low body fat. Use BMI alongside waist circumference, fitness, and clinical assessment.
